From carbon capture to large-scale deployment

Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage (CCUS) is a critical technology in the effort to reduce CO₂ emissions and achieve climate goals. This intensive course provides a comprehensive understanding of the full CCUS value chain, from CO₂ capture to safe storage and reuse.

The programme examines the technologies behind CCUS as well as the economic feasibility of projects, investment models, policy frameworks and the challenges involved in large-scale implementation. Real-world projects connect the technical principles of CCUS directly to current developments in practice.

What you will gain

  • A comprehensive understanding of the complete CCUS value chain, from capture to transport, storage and utilisation.
  • Insight into COâ‚‚ capture technologies, including how they work, their advantages and their limitations.
  • An understanding of the economic feasibility of CCUS projects, including investment models and relevant policy frameworks.
  • The ability to critically evaluate CCUS projects using cost-benefit considerations.
  • Practical insight into the challenges and strategies involved in scaling up CCUS.
  • Opportunities to exchange knowledge with experts and peers working across the CCUS sector.

Over three days, participants explore the technologies, business considerations and policy developments that shape the deployment of Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage.

The programme covers the CCUS chain end to end and connects academic and technical insight with real-world implementation. Participants examine current projects and innovations and consider how CCUS can be deployed at scale as part of wider decarbonisation strategies.

Interactive sessions and expert contributions support the translation of CCUS knowledge into practical decision-making within participants’ own organisations.

After this course, you will be able to:

  • Explain the role of CCUS in reducing COâ‚‚ emissions and contributing to climate targets.
  • Understand the main technologies and stages across the CCUS value chain.
  • Assess the advantages and limitations of different COâ‚‚ capture approaches.
  • Analyse the economic and policy conditions that influence CCUS projects.
  • Evaluate ongoing CCUS projects from technical, economic and implementation perspectives.
  • Identify strategies and challenges for the large-scale deployment of CCUS.

What’s included in the Intensive Course CCUS
