We are pleased to welcome Prashanth Shanmugan as a new Ambassador for the New Energy Business School. NEBS Ambassadors are distinguished professionals who contribute to our vision by bringing expertise, global perspective and strategic insight into our programmes and community. They regularly engage with participants, represent NEBS at key events, and help strengthen our connection with regions and sectors where the energy transition is actively shaped.
A global perspective on geopolitics and energy
Prashanth Shanmugan is an accomplished geostrategist, government affairs advisor and international business specialist with extensive experience at the intersection of geopolitics, strategy and global business. Earlier in his career, he was part of the Shell Global Scenarios team, where he developed strategic foresight expertise that links energy systems, market dynamics, policy and geopolitics.
Today, Prashanth serves as President of the Australian Council on Foreign Relations, is a Lecturer at the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland, and acts as a Reservist Officer in the Australian Army. He also leads a creative advisory practice focused on narrative design, scenario development and public diplomacy.
This unique combination, spanning academia, corporate strategy, diplomacy and executive advisory gives Prashanth a multidimensional perspective that enriches discussions on the global energy transition.
Strengthening our global network
Based in Australia, Prashanth brings an important Indo‑Pacific lens to the NEBS network. The Indo‑Pacific region is a key arena in the global energy transition, balancing energy security, economic development and decarbonisation in a rapidly evolving context. His appointment underscores our commitment to building a truly international community of energy leaders.
In his role as ambassador, Prashanth will support programme development and delivery, represent NEBS at international events and help expand our global reach, particularly across Australia, the Indo‑Pacific, Europe and beyond.
In June of 2026, he will co‑facilitate the three-day Strategic Executive Programme: Energy Geoeconomics and Global Security, organised in partnership with Publieke Zaken and hosted by Vopak in Rotterdam.
“We are delighted to welcome Prashanth to the NEBS Ambassador family. His depth of expertise in corporate diplomacy, energy strategy and geopolitics, combined with his perspective from Australia and the Indo‑Pacific, adds a dimension that is increasingly vital as the energy transition accelerates globally. We look forward to the conversations, the connections and the impact that his ambassadorship will generate.”
