Discover the world of AI in the Energy Transition

Artificial Intelligence is playing an increasingly important role in the energy sector. As energy systems become more complex, decentralised and data-driven, AI can help improve efficiency, support forecasting and optimisation, strengthen decision-making and accelerate innovation across the energy value chain.

During the Masterclass AI in the Energy Transition, you explore how artificial intelligence can be applied across energy systems, industrial processes and the wider energy and materials transition. You will also examine the role of generative AI, blockchain, digitalisation and emerging technologies in decentralised energy systems.

The masterclass combines technological insight with practical applications, organisational considerations and real-world examples. It helps you understand where AI can create value in the energy transition, what is required for responsible implementation and how technological innovation can be translated into viable applications and business cases.

How you benefit:

  • AI and energy systems: understand how artificial intelligence can support forecasting, optimisation and decision-making across energy systems.
  • Generative AI: explore the role of AI, machine learning and generative AI within the energy and materials transition.
  • Practical applications: discover how AI is being applied in electricity grids and industrial processes.
  • Blockchain and decentralised energy: understand the role of blockchain and digital technologies in local energy markets and decentralised energy transactions.
  • Responsible AI: explore governance, data security, risk management, organisational readiness and the human side of AI adoption.
  • AI and materials: learn how artificial intelligence can support and accelerate the development of materials for the energy transition.

During this Masterclass AI in the Energy Transition, you develop a practical understanding of how artificial intelligence is changing the energy sector.

You start by exploring how AI is changing organisations and business models, including the transition from experimentation and pilots to scalable applications. Attention is given to business value, responsible AI, governance, data security, risk management and organisational readiness.

The programme then examines the fundamentals of artificial intelligence, including the differences between AI, machine learning and generative AI. From there, you explore applications across the energy and materials value chain and consider both the potential and environmental footprint of AI.

Particular attention is given to AI and generative AI in energy systems. Through practical examples and case studies, you explore applications in geo-energy, electricity grids and industrial processes, including forecasting, optimisation and decision support. You will also consider industrial AI, secure data sharing, agentic AI and the conditions required for successful implementation.

The programme also examines decentralised energy systems. You explore how digital technologies and blockchain can support community-based local energy markets and decentralised transactions, and consider the interaction between AI, blockchain and local energy management. Alongside this, the programme addresses AI in material design and the connection between technological innovation, investment, risk and financeable energy business cases.

After this masterclass, you will be able to:

  • Explain the fundamentals of AI and distinguish between AI, machine learning and generative AI.
  • Evaluate AI applications across the energy value chain, including energy systems, industrial processes and markets.
  • Identify practical AI applications for forecasting, optimisation and decision support.
  • Understand how AI and generative AI are being applied in geo-energy, electricity grids and industrial processes.
  • Explain emerging developments such as industrial AI, secure data sharing and agentic AI.
  • Explain the role of blockchain and digital technologies in local energy markets and decentralised energy systems.
  • Understand how AI can accelerate the discovery and development of materials for the energy transition.
  • Identify relevant organisational, ethical, financial and regulatory considerations when applying AI within the energy sector.

What to expect during a masterclass

In addition to substantive learning and new professional connections, we provide a well-organised learning experience.

After completing the masterclass, you will receive a digital certificate of participation that can easily be added to your LinkedIn profile. Speaker presentations will be shared as reference material, allowing you to revisit the content or share relevant insights with colleagues.

Lunch and healthy snacks are provided throughout the day. A dedicated event manager will be on site to ensure the programme runs smoothly and to assist with any practical questions.

The masterclass brings together technological, organisational and financial perspectives on AI in the energy transition.
