The energy sector is facing a period of profound transformation. Climate targets, decarbonisation, geopolitical instability, changing market dynamics and new forms of competition are reshaping the strategic landscape for energy companies. At the same time, leadership teams are under pressure to make complex decisions in an environment marked by uncertainty, stakeholder pressure and organisational resistance to change. Traditional business models are being challenged, while new opportunities are emerging through international expansion, joint ventures, new energy technologies and cross-sector partnerships.
Leading Energy in Transition focuses on the leadership challenges and strategic choices that come with this transformation. The programme combines strategic reflection with practical examples, peer discussion and contributions from experienced leaders in the energy sector.

Leading Energy in Transition is developed in collaboration with Dr Yanos Michopoulos and is designed around three central themes: the energy transition, the strategic and organisational challenges facing energy companies, and the new opportunities emerging across the sector.
Participants will explore how energy companies can develop and implement strategy, manage change, deal with uncertainty and bias in decision-making, work across cultures and stakeholders, and adapt governance models to a changing energy landscape.
In addition to the lead lecturer, selected guest speakers will contribute to the programme, bringing in additional practical leadership perspectives from across the energy sector.
This programme is designed for senior professionals, executives and managers working in or around the energy sector, including:
- Senior managers and executives in energy companies

- Leaders working on decarbonisation, sustainability or energy transition topics

Dr Yanos Michopoulos is one of the greatest authorities in the gas world. He is Chairman of the Board of Directors of DESFA, the newly privatised gas transmission operator in Greece. Next to that he is active as expert and ambassador for Energy Delta Institute, works with the UK’s Institute of Directors and other training organisation as leadership course leader, mentor, coach, and guest speaker for MBA and executive education.
With a PhD in Physics (Durham University) and over 30 years of senior international experience in various energy and related sectors, including oil & gas, renewables, infrastructure, shipping, and private equity, Yanos has a wide variety of expertise. He has led major change projects, including major organisational and cultural transformations, financial and performance turnarounds, introduction of new products and services, and new market entries. He has led, mentored, and coached large and diverse teams, operating across different functions, and distributed in various locations, countries, and cultures.
